Lisbon Zoo

The Seal and Dolphin Show is pretty cool.

At evidenced by Deb and Téo's huge smiles.

Unlike lawsuit-weary US zoos, in the Lisbon Zoo you can get pretty close to the animals...

The ibex have the most monumental enclosure...

London

On the way back to Lisbon we stopped by London:

First, we decided to go to the Theatre District and eat at the Covent Gardens.

Yes. They still have the double deckers in London. They are endearing. They may look plodding. They are anything but.

One thing I just love is how all the taxis (second vehicle from right) in London have the same basic shape and interior (one back bench and two fold-down seats facing back.)

Deb in front of Buckingham Place.

Buckingham Palace guards. There's a story behind those hats. There's got to be.

And another couple London icons.

Views of Cambridge

No idea what this is, but it's had steam coming out of its ears for days...

Frank Gehry's Stata Center at MIT.

Cambridge City Hall

Cute...

Harvard Square

Problem is, if you go in, you've also got to come out...

Snow-Plow Mountains...

More of Downtown Boston

Last night, more snow blanketed all of New England.

Waiting for the T (Metro)...

Some people just need their fix, no matter how it comes.

The old and the new.

I wouldn't need it either in this weather...
(Can you find the bicycle in this picture?)

Quincy Adams Station. Big.

Cape Cod

We decided to take a break from driving round and round and round and round Boston, and take a little trip down to Cape Cod

Views of Provincetown

On Old King's Highway in Cape Cod, there's some amazing New England architecture.

Many houses there seem to have been made from old barns.

Boston

We're out visiting Boston for a week.

A typical street in Boston.

the touristy Faneuil Hall / Marketplace area.

Feira da Ladra

This flea market in an old neighborhood of Lisbon is actually called, in english, "The Theives Market" (Feira da Ladra)

Carnaval in Setúbal

Quite a large crowd for the third annual Carnaval parade of the city of Setúbal.

Rio, it's not, but it had charm and some good fun.

Hey. Being a clown is serious business...

Tia Louisa and Jean-Yves with their grandson, Vasco.

There were some truly scary sights:

And nothing beats a school of foam fish... with a dog on a leash.
(I guess sardines need pets too.)

Like the Rose Parade King, this Don concludes the show.
The handle bar moustache is real. He's had it for 40 years I'm told.

Torre de Belem

The weather may have been undecided, by Téo had no such qualms about wanting to go see the "castle on the water" as he calls the Belem Tower.

The view below is of the Monument to the Discoverers, with one of the supports of the 25th of April Bridge in the background.

Carnaval at School

Not Harry Potter (Sheesh...)
"Téo the Wizard!"

The Wizard and his anachronostic friends.
